Weather – This region is a savanna/sahel and has two seasons, wet and dry, each lasting about 6 months. During the dry season, temperatures can reach 115 – 120f and during the wet season daytime temperatures are in the 90s.

Transportation – Most inter-city transportation is best accomplished by air. Roads are often impassable during the wet season. Motorbikes are often used for local travel.

Currency – There is a very high demand for US currency. Inflation is impacting local families with an average 100-400% increase per year for the last 3 years.

Housing – The tukel is the common name for the traditional round hut in the region.

Health – This region experiences one of the world’s highest incidents of infant and maternal mortality. Many people die from preventable and curable diseases and infections.
